Privacy Policy
The short version: your G-code never leaves your device. We use Google Analytics to count visits, and this page explains exactly what that involves.
No uploads
Files are read and drawn in your browser.
No accounts
There is nothing to sign up for or log in to.
Basic analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It never sees your files.
Your G-code files
When you open a file, your browser reads it and a background worker in your browser parses it. The file is not uploaded to any server or stored by this site.
One detail: the viewer is its own page, so a file chosen on the home page is placed in your browser’s temporary storage for the moment it takes to open the viewer, then deleted as soon as the viewer has read it. That copy never leaves your device.
Close or reload the viewer tab and the file is gone. Because nothing is uploaded, we cannot see, recover or share your files.
What stays in your browser
Besides the analytics cookies described below, this site saves your viewing preferences on your device.
- gv-theme · Light, Dark or System, kept in local storage
- gv-canvas · whether the 3D viewport is dark or light, kept in local storage
These are never sent anywhere. You can remove them at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google. It helps us see which pages are visited and how the site performs, so we can improve it.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (for example, names starting with _ga) and receives information such as your IP address, device and browser type, approximate location, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site and when. This data is used in aggregate and processed by Google under its own Privacy Policy. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services here.
Analytics does not receive the contents or names of the G-code files you open. Those are processed only in your browser.
To opt out, you can block cookies or scripts in your browser, use a content blocker, or install Google’s Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The viewer works the same if analytics are blocked.
We do not use advertising trackers and we do not sell your data.
Like any website, our hosting provider may also keep standard server logs, such as IP address, requested page, browser type and time. These are used to operate and secure the service.
Third parties
Fonts, scripts and styles for the viewer are served from this site itself. The only third-party service we load is Google Analytics, as described above. The site embeds no other external widgets.
If you follow a link to another website, that site’s own policy applies.
If you contact us
If you send us an email, we receive the message and the address it came from. We use them only to reply and to improve the viewer, and we don’t sell or share them.
The contact form on this site only opens your email app. It does not send anything by itself.
Children
ViewGcode is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; the only data collected is the standard analytics information described above.
Changes to this policy
If we change how data is collected or used, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
